On release, GCCA SVP for Global Programs and Insights Adam Thocher said: "Cold chain has proven resilient in the face of adversity. Last week, we joined our colleagues in 9 other European representative associations to publish our joint call to action for the incoming European Parliament and Commission. https://lnkd.in/etC7HZeu We are proud to add our voice to those of others across Europe in standing up for the values of cold chain at a crucial time for our industry and the world. As our Europe Director Julie Hanson says in our statement: "The cold chain is vital to our European economy and way of life. In recent years, we have proved just how resilient our sector is. Storage and transportation professionals ensured Europeans were fed during the pandemic and the energy crisis. During this time, policymakers have realised they can’t take supply chains for granted. Our call to action shows how they can support future success and resilience in our perishable goods supply chains. “As we look to the challenges and opportunities ahead for the European economy, like future trade policy, the green transition, or the advances of artificial intelligence, we will show how vital well-resourced and regulated supply chains are. Cold Chain Makes Global Trade Possible.. Reflecting on last week's excellent conference and our panel on how cold chain operators are coping with the changing attitudes and strategies to global trade. Customs expert Anna Jerzewska, PhD opened up our discussion explaining how new requirements on customs, carbon and sanitary rules are requiring businesses to work harder to keep trade flowing. Then followed a broad and insightful discussion facilitated by Adam Thocher, sharing practical experience about importing and exporting vegetables and pickles from India to Europe and the world Joris Olbrechts, Jodifrost; working in the European fish industry through Brexit, Sylvie Becaus, VLAAMSE VISVEILING and navigating the dynamics of disruption and demand surges between Asia and the United States Jason Dreisbach, Dreisbach Enterprises. Staying Agile in a Dynamic Market. Last week we heard from Nikki Redhead, Managing Director of Keep It Cool Ltd (UK), Hege Skogland Mokleiv CEO of Permanor as (Norway) and Chris Menken Project Leader at Leen Menken Foodservice Logistics (The Netherlands) - three inspiring business leaders guiding very different smaller business in the European cold chain. The session, led by our Europe Director, Julie Hanson, provided our audience with insights on how businesses have weathered the inflationary pressures in the European economy, the labour shortage and the increasing expectations of customers and regulators.
